QuestionAnswer

Can I use Oracle Forms Converter with Oracle Forms 6?

Yes, you can use the Oracle Forms Converter with Oracle Forms 6 or even earlier versions using the XML files mode.

First, you need to convert your forms, libraries, menus and object libraries to XML and PLD format. See How can get I get XML files from FMB files? for details.

After that run Oracle Forms Converter. Click New… and then XML files in the New project window.

new project xml files

Specify the folder with converted XML files (forms, object libraries, menu) for the XML folder field.

If your forms use libraries, specify the folder with converted PLD files (libraries) in the Libraries folder field.

If you have reports for conversion, specify the folder with converted report files in the Reports folder field.

Press Create.

What should I specify in the “Oracle home folder” field?

Here, you should specify the path where you have installed Oracle Forms and Reports Software. It should look like C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Home\.

I do not have Oracle Reports for conversion. Can I leave the “Reports folder” field empty?

Yes, you can run the Oracle Forms Converter only for Oracle Forms.

Clicking Run Assessment Report results in the error frmf2xml.bat not found

If you received “frmf2xml.bat not found” error, then you should check your Oracle Forms and Reports version. Oracle Forms Converter works with Oracle Forms and Reports 9i and later. You can download Oracle Forms and Reports from the official Oracle website. If you use an earlier version of Oracle Forms, see “Can I use Oracle Forms Converter with Oracle Forms 6?”

If you run Oracle Forms and Reports 9i and later, make sure that the file “frmf2xml.bat” is located at “Oracle home folder”\forms\templates\scripts\frmf2xml.bat. Make sure that the “Oracle home folder” is correctly specified and looks as follows: c:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Home\.
