Oracle Forms Converter - Assesment Tool
Typical workflow
You can use the Oracle Forms Converter — Assessment Tool to analyze the complexity of the source code of the Oracle Forms and estimate the modernization project. This page describes a typical workflow. You need to follow these steps to assess your Oracle Forms modernization project.
Convert your FMB forms to XML files and PLD libraries using Oracle Forms Builder.
Download the Oracle Forms Converter — Assessment Tool.
Run the AssessmentTool.msi file to install the application. Follow the installation wizard to read and accept the terms of the License Agreement and specify the destination folder for the product.
Install all the required drivers. Oracle Forms Converter — Assessment Tool requires the specific driver to connect to your Oracle Forms and Oracle Database.
Click the Assessment Tool icon to run the application.
Create a new project.
Specify the path to the folders with the XML and PLD files of your forms and libraries that you received on the step 1. Then press the Create button.
Press Ctrl+P or select the Project Settings option from the menu. Switch to the Connection settings tab.
Specify the Oracle Database connection credentials for a deep dive into the source code and database objects. This allows for getting a detailed assessment report, which helps understand the complexity of your source environment and get ballpark estimates of the whole Oracle Forms modernization project.
Press the Run Assessment Report button in the application menu to generate a detailed assessment report.
The Assessment Tool saves the assessment report into PDF and CSV files. This is how the PDF file with the assessment report looks like:
The folder with the assessment report files automatically opens when the application completes the analysis process.
On the final step, you need to submit these files to the DB Best team. Our experts will then provide you with an estimate of your Oracle Forms modernization project.
