Application settings

You can manage Database Compare Suite application settings

  1. Click Settings in the Project panel at the top left hand corner of the window.

  2. In the General tab you can manage the following parameters:

    • Specify the default directory to save projects in the Default projects directory text field. The default value is %Userprofile%\My Documents\DB Best Database Compare Suite.

    • Specify the maximum number of recent projects that will be displayed in the main application window in the Maximum number of recent projects text field. The default value is set to 10.

    • Check the Save panels positions option to save the user defined positions of panels. By default, this option is unchecked.

    • Check the Save check states of child objects option to store check states in the objects of the metadata trees. Please note that storing check constraints of child metadata object pairs takes a significant amount of time. By default, this option is unchecked.

    • Check the Automatically load the latest stored project option to automatically load the latest stored project at the launch of the application. By default, this option is unchecked.

    • Check the Automatically check for updates option to enable automatic checks for updates. By default, this option is checked.

  3. In the Operations tab, you can manage the following parameters:

    • Specify the number of data rows that are being displayed on page in the Data tab in the preview of the table content mode in the Number of data rows on a page to display text field.

    • Change the maximum number of digits in numbers that are displayed in a standard form in the Number of decimal places to display in the exponential form field. All numbers where the number of digits exceeds the limit will be displayed in the exponential form.

    • Set the maximum number of connections for data operations (you can set the value between 1 and 20) in the Maximum number of connections for data operations field.

    • Set the maximum number of connections for metadata loading (you can set the value between 1 and 20) in the Maximum number of connections for metadata loading field.

    • Specify the number of allowed errors per operation with data object pair in the Number of allowed errors per operation with data object pair field. This allows you to continue the operation until the number of occurred errors doesn’t exceed the limit (if you set the limit to zero, operation will never stop, regardless of the number of errors in the process).

  4. Click the Save button at the bottom of the windows to save all the changes you’ve made to the application settings. Otherwise, click the Cancel button to abandon changes.

  5. You can set the default values for all settings by pressing the Reset All button
